Claire Gale: Drive along a scenic side road at the ocean edge in Somerset, Tasmania and you may see a string of multi-coloured bunting in the window of a house, spelling out the name ‘Baby Boudoir'. Here lives Claire Gale. Since she was young Claire has been surrounded by textiles and has enjoyed rummaging through charity shops and antique markets for vintage curtains, bed linen, table cloths, embroidery, buttons, beads, lace, ribbon and all kinds of trimmings. Claire has found her niche designing and producing childrens clothes, quilts, toys and home decor items with these gathered treasures. Originally from Somerset in the South West of England, Claire draws on inspiration from her hippie country childhood where she enjoyed festivals, village fates, fayres and jumble sales strung with bunting, where she grew up surrounded with gorgeous soft furnishings and where 'shabby chic' was a way of life. Baby Boudoir echoes Claire's strong sense of design, her flair lets her mix patterns and colours to create unique pieces that are beautiful, functional and fun for a special gift.
